The International Bill of Gender rights vs. the Cider House Rules: Transgenders Struggle with the Courts over What Clothing They Are Allowed to Wear on the Job, Which Restroom They Are Allowed to Use on the Job, Their Right to Marry, and the Very Definition of Sex FRYE, PHYLLIS RANDOLPH U.S.A. Attorneys Frye and Meiselman will present segments of Ms. Fryes published law review article, by the same name, as can be found in the William and Mary School of Law, Journal of Gender and Law, and which can be downloaded either from the above legal citation or from the website: http://transgenderlegal.com. Specifically, Attorneys Frye and Meiselman will alert the medical community of the following transgender concerns and legal issues: 1) the International Bill of Gender Rights as was drafted by the transgender community itself, especially #7 "The Right to Freedom from Involuntary Psychiatric Diagnosis and Treatment"; 2) the Joint Statement of ICTLEP and the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) re: why many in the transgender community want NO part of the "gender dysphoria" label; 3) how to advise your patients concerning the dressing and restroom issues at work; 4) how to advise your patients concerning their legal right to marry; and 5) how to advise your patients concerning the legal definition of their sex.
