Aesthetic Refinements to the Secondary Labioplasty

MELTZER, TOBY U.S.A.

The primary purpose of a labioplasty followed vaginoplasty is to create an anterior fornix of the vagina. In addition, the secondary labioplasty should create better definition of the inner labia and provide hooding and coverage to the neoclitoris. A minimum waiting period of three months post vaginoplasty is required to develop a well-established blood supply. Utilizing a Y-V incision instead of the widely used z-plasty can accomplish these goals of providing an aesthetically pleasing and natural look, without conspicuous scars. The incisions are located at the edge of the inner labia and the midline of the mons in the pubic area. The labial incisions heal imperceptibly. The single midline mons incision heals nicely and is hidden by the pubic hair as opposed to a more noticeable W shaped scar that may result from a z-plasty.
