Radial Forearm Phalloplasty in Female-to-Male Transsexuals: A Review of 124 Cases

Radial forearm phalloplasty is still considered as the "golden standard" for penile reconstruction in female-to-male (FTM) transsexuals. In this presentation we report on 124 cases of radial forearm phalloplasty performed by a single team of surgeons. The operative technique and the short and long-term complications will be discussed.

Special emphasis will be put on refinements of technique and improvements, which have been developed over the years as to the timing of the different procedures, the flap dimensions, the microsurgical technique, the donor site morbidity, the scrotal reconstruction, the post-operative care and the prevention and the handling of the complications.
