WITTEN, TARYNN U.S.A.
E-mail: tmwitten@earthlink.net

Very little is understood concerning the dynamics of aging and sexuality in the transgender community. The purpose of this presentation is to present and discuss some of the issues in this arena, as they relate to the transgender community. Data from this presentation were obtained from (a) survey research (IRB approved), (b) literature research, and (c) ethnographic interviews (IRB approved) as part of an ongoing (now 6 year) longitudinal study of aging in the transgendered population worldwide. Issues to be addressed are: (a) an overview of aging in the transgendered population, (b) overview of sex, sexuality, and social network/partnership in the transgendered population, (c) economic impact of aging for transgendered elder, and (d) public health issues associated with aging the transgendered community.
