Chapter 3: Follow-up studies in chronological order

Benjamin, 1964c
Private practice, New York, NY, USA

This publication is another variation of the previous follow-up studies by the author (Benjamin, 1964a, b). Some text passages are identical.

The sample of females corresponds to the one that was reported in Benjamin (1964b). Diverging from the description given there was only the evaluation scale. Instead of the four-step evaluation, by rescinding the category "excellent," a three-step evaluation is done (satisfactory, doubtful, unsatisfactory).

New additions are some of the indications to the samples of males that were already in Benjamin (1964b) given as n=17. Twelve of them had received male hormones and seven of the 12 were operated (age at time of surgery, 21-47 years). "The result of the operative procedures in the seven patients was satisfactory (if not excellent) in six. One was doubtful" (p. 468). Four males got married following surgery.
