Chapter 3: Follow-up studies in chronological order

McKee, 1976
Dept. of Psychiatry, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, TN, USA

This publication, cited as follow-up study in the overview by Lothstein (1982), does not merit this description. Mainly it says generalities about patients with transsexual symptoms. The transmission of his own data limits itself to the following remark: "To date, 50 persons have requested sex reassignment in our clinic at Vanderbilt. Of these 50, 25 were terminated after being diagnosed as psychotic or inappropriate candidates for some other reason. Seven male transsexuals have received sex reassignment operation, and all except one are doing well postoperatively. Four female transsexuals have been accepted as candidates for operation. The remaining 14 applicants are either in the probationary period or are being evaluated as possible candidates for this procedure" (p. 187)
